I have lived on Waiheke since 1987, raising 4 daughters. In that time I have established a small architectural and building consultancy business which I continue to operate. On 16 April 1992 our eldest daughter, Jassy, fell ill and died from meningococcal meningitis. Resulting from my gratitude of the support from the Waiheke community to my family during that time, I began looking for volunteers to establish a network that supported sick children on Waiheke. On 8th April 1994 the Jassy Dean Trust, consisting of 9 trustees, was formally accepted as an Incorporated Society and has continued to operate continuously since.

Chris Curreen
A long time resident of the Island, I live in Oneroa with my partner Bob Scott. I am privileged to work with young people at the High School and have a keen interest in their welfare and achievements. The Jassy Dean Trust gives me an opportunity to assist families in need of help in a community to which I am very attached.
Alison Walker
I have lived on the island for over 25 years and have been involved the community through teaching and through operating a business. I have three adult children and two grandchildren. For much of the winter my husband and I travel and do cycling tours in the northern hemisphere. I enjoy island life and over the years I have seen the benefits the Trust has brought to many Waiheke families.

I have lived on the Island for over twenty years and, with my husband, own and operate our own business. My work has been in banking and tourism, and I’ve helped in various voluntary capacities locally. I knew Jassy personally as a very bright and talented young lady. I consider it an honour to be involved with the Trust. It’s fun working in such a positive environment so that we can help families in our community.

I grew up on Great Barrier Island on a water-access only property and have spent the last 15 years living on Waiheke. Jassy's family were amongst my family's first friends on the island. My interest in becoming involved in the Jassy Dean Trust grew out of this association and enables me to give something practical to the community I get so much from.
